With the next year set to be rich with product launches from many of the majormanufacturers playing in the Diabetes space, we’ve conducted our annual diabetessurvey to better understand how current and upcoming trends are expected to playout in the market. Key takeaways for the survey are (1) pumps and CGMpenetration continue to have plenty of room to expand, even after the successdemonstrated to date, (2) there’s significant enthusiasm for upcoming productlaunches from Insulet, Dexcom, Abbott, and Medtronic, and (3) greater pharmacychannel access reduces barriers and enables greater access to both CGMs andinsulin pumps. Though reimbursement continues to be a limiting factor to greaterpenetration, with several presentations at this year’s ATTD conference lendingcredence to the fact that CGMs/closed loop systems have significant value forpatients with uncontrolled diabetes, we continue to expect coverage to expand,especially within Type 2 and OUS patients. As an innovation-driven space withseveral market-wide tailwinds, we saw very few surprise outcomes in our survey.Said another way, this survey confirmed our very bullish stance on thediabetes sector, and we continue to be bullish on DXCM and PODD ahead ofthe G7 and Omnipod 5 launches, ABT with Libre 3, and while we like MDToverall and think 780G and the lower fingerstick burden of Guardian 4 is asignificant improvement, we still expect ongoing share losses (thoughimproved growth going forward).
