This ASEAN Regional Action Plan for Combatting Marine Debris in the ASEAN Member States (ASEAN RegionalAction Plan) was developed under the leadership of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (MONRE),Thailand, in their role as chair of the ASEAN Working Group on Coastal and Marine Environment (AWGCME).The ASEAN Secretariat would like to express its sincere gratitude for the technical inputs provided by ASEANMember States through the AWGCME, ASEAN Working Group on Chemicals and Waste (AWGCW), andASEAN Working Group on Environmentally Sustainable Cities (AWGESC), as well as development partners,private sector experts, and leading academics.The development of the ASEAN Regional Action Plan would not be possible without the financial support andtechnical guidance from the World Bank through PROBLUE. With this support, the ASEAN Secretariat alsoappreciates the technical consultants (Austrian Environment Agency and Alphabeta) who had prepared the draftof the ASEAN Regional Action Plan and organised the consultation workshops to solicit inputs and feedbackfrom the AMS and other stakeholders. PROBLUE is an umbrella multi-donor trust fund, administered by theWorld Bank, that supports the sustainable and integrated development of marine and coastal resources inhealthy oceans.
