In recent years, I joined the Institute of National Accounts (Beijing Normal University) every summer in their research and the compiling of National Account Research Report. The young researchers there are passionate and promising. They painstakingly gathered a large amount of data. It was on this basis that I started pondering over the issue of overcapacity. How serious is the problem of excessive capacity in the industry of steel, cement, sheet glass, primary aluminum, and shipbuilding? And how did it come into being? In fact, it is not difficult to identify the reason behind as long as one stays practical and realistic in research.

近年来，我每年暑假都会参加北京师范大学国民经济核算研究所的研究和国民经济核算研究报告的编写。那里的年轻研究人员充满激情，充满希望。他们煞费苦心地收集了大量数据。正是在这个基础上，我开始思考产能过剩的问题。钢铁、水泥、平板玻璃、原铝和造船业产能过剩的问题有多严重？它是怎么产生的？其实，只要在研究中坚持实事求是，就不难找出背后的原因。
