Nordic private equity (PE) deal count continued to increase in 2022, up 6.2% year-over-year (YoY) while deal value remained flat, showing the continued resilience of PE dealmaking in the region. In 2022, the PE industry was rocked by a shift in monetary policy as central banks across the globe started increasing interest rates, which increased the cost of debt and thus the cost of potential deals for sponsors. 2022 was a year of smaller but more numerous PE deals, as mega-deals fell to an 11-year low in terms of deal value. In fact, 2022 was strong for bolt-on acquisitions, which represented 53.4% of all buyouts in the Nordic region in terms of deal value.
