Creating a globally competitive electric vehicle manufacturing sector is India’s response to translating the climate crisis into a growth opportunity. The impact of the changing climate is profound, as it affects the lives of thousands around the globe. A critical step towards fighting such an imperative problem is by decreasing emission in one of the largest emitting sectors, i.e., transportation. In this regard, the introduction of Electric Vehicles (EVs) is a boon for the transportation sector. Currently, India has implemented many policies to accelerate the adoption of EVs. Some these policies include Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of Electric Vehicles (FAME) I & II, Production Linked Incentive (PLI) Scheme for the manufacturing of Advanced Chemistry Cell, etc. These policies form the centrepiece of India’s commitment to decarbonising its transportation sector, showcasing its commitment of mitigating global climate change.
